  JOB DESCRIPTION:  
  Cognetic Networks has an immediate open position for a [network consultant - systems engineer]. You will provide network services, support and consultations with various systems and clients, related to the business IT environment. The position is located in Houston, Texas.  
     
  YOUR DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:  
 

- Provide critical network service support to a wide variety of small to medium size businesses/clients.
- Architect and support Microsoft Windows 2003 R2/2003/2000/NT/XP/9.x LAN/WANs.
- Architect and support Exchange 2007/2003/2000/5.5.
- Architect and support Blackberry Enterprise Server, Handhelds and Services.
- Repair downed systems, including Microsoft Windows and Exchange servers.
- Responsible for the design, implementation, and support of network operating systems.
- Install, upgrade and configure network printing, directory structures, rights, security, software, etc.
- Provide technical systems support for a wide variety of system users and clients.
- Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems.
- Repair, upgrade and maintain PC based computer workstations & servers.
- Support, maintain and conduct system backups and restore processes.
- Support a wide variety of hardware, including: printers, routers, switches, firewalls and hubs.
- Provide consultations to clients for new equipment, security and other related technological solutions.

 
     
  SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:  
 

- MCSE / MCP
- Minimum 2 year network server and systems support experience.
- Capable of designing, implementing and troubleshooting a variety of network topologies and systems.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and Exchange Server is essential.
- Experience in MS SQL Server, Citrix, Terminal Services. (Unix or Linux a plus).
- Strong knowledge in Symantec Backup Exec and Symantec Anti-Virus CE.
- Strong knowledge of networking and design protocols. TCP/IP is essential.
- Strong knowledge and experience in Active Directory and DNS.
- Strong Knowledge of LAN's and WAN's concepts and architectures.
- Strong knowledge of PC architecture and systems support techniques.
- Knowledge in network security.
- Sonicwall, Cisco, and VPN support for a variety of LAN/WAN topologies is a plus.
- Knowledge in Blackberry Enterprise Server, and Blackberry handhelds.
- A+ Certification, programming and cabling experience a plus.
- Must be able to Manage Multiple Projects in a fast pace, yet fun, environment.
- Must be detail oriented, professional, and self motivated!
- Strong organizational and Communication Skills are absolutely essential.
- Must have dependable transportation to drive to and from client locations.
